Open House at SKY Preschool: See How We Spark Curiosity in Young Minds

SKY Preschool

At SKY Preschool, curiosity is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that learning is most effective when it’s fun, interactive, and hands-on. Recently, we hosted two exciting Open House events: Open House 1: “Love in the Sky” in February and Open House 2: Future Career Day in March. These events were designed not only to showcase our play-based approach to early childhood education but also to give families a glimpse of the nurturing environment where children can explore, create, and grow. Let’s take a closer look at these unforgettable events and how they reflected our commitment to fostering curiosity and creativity.

Open House 1: “Love in the Sky” – A Fun and Free Family Event

On February 15th, 2025, we welcomed families to our first Open House of the year, themed “Love in the Sky”. We aimed to create a relaxed and engaging experience where both children and parents could play, learn, and connect with each other. From the moment families arrived, they could feel the energy of excitement in the air, and we made sure every activity was designed to inspire and entertain.

Yoga with Yogaland

SKY Preschool - open house

Our day started with a calm and refreshing yoga session led by Ms. Linda, one of our passionate educators. From 10:15 to 10:45 AM, families joined in to stretch, relax, and focus on mindfulness. Yoga is a great way for young children to develop body awareness, balance, and flexibility, all while learning to calm their minds and focus. Ms. Linda guided everyone through simple poses that both parents and children could enjoy together.

It was wonderful to see parents taking a moment to unwind and children trying out new movements in a playful environment. It wasn’t just about getting the poses right—it was about having fun, being mindful, and getting ready for a day full of learning and discovery.

Healthy Lunch Break

After yoga, it was time for a delicious and healthy lunch at 11:00 AM. We believe that food is an essential part of a child’s learning journey, not just for fueling the body but also for teaching about nutrition and healthy habits. Families enjoyed a balanced meal together, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter and conversations. Parents had a chance to connect while their children enjoyed the fresh, nutritious offerings.

For us, this lunch break was an opportunity for families to pause and reflect on the day ahead while also learning about the importance of healthy food choices. The social aspect of sharing a meal was just as valuable as the nutrition, and it was great to see everyone bonding over good food.

Hands-On Learning with Robots

SKY Preschool

Next, we moved on to something truly exciting—robotics with Codero. From 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM, children explored the world of technology and problem-solving through engaging, hands-on activities with robots. Instead of traditional coding, the kids got to interact with robots in a playful and educational way. They experimented with controlling the robots, learning how to guide them through obstacles, and exploring how these machines respond to their commands.

As parents looked on, it was clear that our young learners were developing key skills such as logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving—all while having fun. What was particularly impressive was how quickly the children grasped the concept of controlling the robots, experimenting with different commands, and watching their actions unfold in real-time. This session was a fantastic example of how technology can be introduced to young children in a way that’s both interactive and enjoyable.

Mandarin Singing & Art Craft

SKY Preschool

At 12:50 PM, the creativity continued with Mandarin singing and art craft activities led by Laoshi Shinta. This session was all about exploring a new language and expressing creativity through art. Children were introduced to basic Mandarin phrases through fun songs, and then they made beautiful crafts to go along with the theme.

It was amazing to see the children singing and creating, picking up new words and concepts while having a blast. The combination of language, music, and art allowed children to engage with different forms of expression, while also enhancing their fine motor skills and listening abilities. Parents were amazed at how quickly their little ones picked up the Mandarin phrases, all while having fun with art and music.

A Special Offer

To wrap up the event, we offered a 5-day free trial class for all families who attended. It was the perfect way for parents to see firsthand how our play-based approach can inspire their child’s curiosity and creativity. Our free trial class gave children a taste of what it’s like to learn at SKY Preschool, while also allowing parents to meet our teachers and ask questions about our curriculum and educational philosophy.

Open House 2: Future Career Day – Exploring Dreams and Possibilities

A month later, on March 15th, we hosted our second Open House, Future Career Day, which was all about introducing young children to different careers in a fun, interactive way. At SKY Preschool, we believe that it’s never too early to start exploring the world of possibilities, and career exploration doesn’t have to be limited to high school or college. Through hands-on activities, we provided a glimpse into the exciting world of careers, encouraging children to imagine their future while having fun.

Discovering Future Careers Through Play

Each activity station at Future Career Day was designed to give children a chance to explore different careers through play. Here’s a glimpse of the creative stations:

  • Building with Blocks: Kids explored architecture and engineering by using blocks to create structures. They learned about how buildings and bridges are designed, all while using their imaginations to build their own creations.
  • Art and Design: At this station, children explored the world of art, graphic design, and animation. With a variety of materials, they created their own artwork and designs, letting their imaginations run wild.
  • Science Exploration: The Science station allowed children to become scientists for the day. They experimented with simple, safe experiments and explored the wonders of the natural world, from biology to chemistry.
  • Cooking and Baking: Here, children became chefs and nutritionists as they mixed ingredients and learned about healthy eating. They enjoyed hands-on activities that let them explore the science behind cooking and food.
  • Nature and Forest: At this station, children became environmentalists and biologists, learning about plants, animals, and ecosystems. They gathered leaves, studied nature, and discovered the importance of protecting our planet.
  • Storytelling and Performance: Children stepped into the roles of actors, writers, and journalists, creating stories and performing for their families. This station helped develop communication skills, as children practiced expressing themselves and sharing ideas.
  • Doctor and Surgeon Play: Finally, at the Doctor and Surgeon station, kids acted as doctors and nurses, treating “patients” and learning about the medical profession in a fun, interactive way.

Each station offered hands-on experiences that built creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Children joined with excitement, learning about careers while gaining life skills for any path ahead.

A Hands-On Learning Approach

The beauty of Future Career Day was that learning wasn’t confined to books or worksheets—it was all about hands-on exploration. Whether they were building, creating, or performing, the children were developing essential skills such as communication, collaboration, and creative thinking.

Parents were thrilled to see how engaged their children were in each activity. It was evident that our play-based approach to learning helped children develop confidence and curiosity, which will benefit them in any career they choose in the future.

Special Enrollment Offer

As with Open House 1, we offered a 5-day free trial class for parents who enrolled their children during Future Career Day. This gave families the opportunity to experience the full potential of our play-based curriculum and see how it sparks creativity and curiosity in every child.
