August became a month to remember for SKY Preschool! Not only did our Kindergarten program proudly earn an A accreditation from BAN PDM. This achievement is a recognition of our unwavering commitment to excellence in early childhood education. It also marked another special moment, as our young stars took the spotlight at Lippo Mall Nusantara.

In a heartwarming performance, our preschoolers brought the stage to life with confidence, creativity, and pure joy. This was more than just a show. It was proof of how learning at SKY Preschool blossoms into real-world skills, from self-expression to teamwork. Laughter and cheers filled the venue as each child poured their heart into the performance. The audience could see how every movement and every smile reflected the nurturing environment they experience daily at school. Parents, relatives, and even mall visitors who stopped to watch were captivated by the students’ energy and charm.

The event took place on Sunday, 10 August 2025, at Lippo Mall Nusantara, from 1:30 to 2:15 PM. From the moment our students arrived, excitement filled the air. Parents gathered with eager smiles, holding up cameras and phones to capture every precious moment. Teachers and staff ensured each student felt prepared and supported, offering reassuring words, and giving encouraging hugs. The proud purple uniforms of SKY Preschool made our group shine like a family united in spirit, standing out brightly amidst the bustling mall atmosphere. Even before the performance began, it was clear this would be a day our students and their families would never forget.

A Warm Welcome on Stage

When the performance began, our students walked confidently onto the stage. The teacher took the microphone and introduced the group. Each student then had the chance to introduce themselves in English, saying proudly, “I am…”.

This small but meaningful step gave students valuable practice in public speaking. It encouraged them to use clear voices, maintain eye contact, and share their identity with confidence. Public introductions like this are an important part of developing strong communication skills from an early age. The audience responded warmly, which helped boost the children’s confidence even more. Several parents smiled and recorded the moment, knowing how significant it was for their child’s growth. These early experiences in front of a supportive crowd can leave a lasting impact on a child’s self-esteem and willingness to express themselves in future settings.

The Three Songs That Stole the Show

The performance featured three delightful songs, each chosen to spark joy and keep the atmosphere lively.

The first was the upbeat Kung Fu Panda theme. The moment the cheerful intro played, our preschoolers’ eyes lit up. Some tapped their feet to the rhythm, others made gentle “kung fu” hand poses or tiny kicks, careful not to lose balance. Their giggles and spontaneous spins added a playful charm that had the audience clapping and smiling from ear to ear.

Next was Aku Indonesia by Naura, a song that carried warmth and pride. The children sang the parts they remembered, waving their small hands in the air like little flags. Some swayed side to side, their smiles as bright as the stage lights. The melody turned into a sweet reminder that even at such a young age, children can express love for their country in the most genuine way.

The final number, Happy by Pharrell Williams, transformed the stage into a wave of positivity. The infectious beat had children bouncing lightly on their feet, clapping to the rhythm, and sharing wide, carefree smiles. Parents couldn’t help but move along, recording every adorable moment. The combination of music, laughter, and the children’s pure joy made it the perfect ending to the show.

The Role of Performance in Student Development

Performances like this are more than just fun. They play a key role in early learning and help children grow in ways that classroom activities alone cannot. At SKY Preschool, we believe in learning through play and the Reggio Emilia approach, where students explore, create, and express themselves freely. Each performance becomes an opportunity for children to showcase their talents while practicing important life skills.

Public performances help develop:

1. Confidence

Standing on stage in front of an audience teaches students to manage nerves and present themselves with pride. With each performance, they gain the courage to speak and act in public. This self-assurance often carries over into their daily interactions and classroom participation. Over time, children become more willing to share ideas and take on new challenges.

2. Teamwork

Singing and dancing in sync requires listening and cooperating with others. Students learn to wait for their turn, match their movements with the group, and respect different abilities. These experiences teach them patience and empathy, which are essential for building positive relationships. Teamwork also encourages a sense of belonging and shared success.

3. Language Skills

Introducing themselves in English supports vocabulary and pronunciation development. Performing lines or lyrics in a second language builds listening skills and boosts memory retention. Children gain confidence in expressing themselves verbally, both on stage and in casual conversation. This early language practice can give them a strong foundation for future learning.

4. Motor Skills

Dancing improves coordination and physical awareness. Students strengthen their balance, rhythm, and fine motor control through repeated practice. Physical movement during rehearsals also supports healthy growth and keeps them active. These skills contribute not only to performance success but also to overall physical development.

5. Cultural Awareness

Songs like “Aku Indonesia” foster national identity and respect for traditions. Through music and dance, children are introduced to cultural values and historical significance in an engaging way. They learn to appreciate diversity and the importance of preserving heritage. This understanding helps them grow into respectful and open-minded individuals.

Support from Parents

One of the most heartwarming parts of the day was the strong support from parents. They gathered around the stage, watching every move, capturing memories with their cameras, and cheering enthusiastically for their children. Laughter filled the venue when the students added their own unique dance moves and creative twists to the performances. The pride in the parents’ eyes was undeniable, reflecting their joy in seeing their children shine.

At SKY Preschool, this bond between home and school is something we value deeply. We believe that when parents are actively involved, students feel more confident to explore new experiences and challenge themselves. This partnership also strengthens the sense of community within our Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool, where learning is a shared journey between teachers, children, and families. With consistent encouragement at home and in the classroom, children are empowered to grow in both skill and character.

Why SKY Preschool Chooses Play-Based Learning

Our play-based learning preschool philosophy is rooted in the belief that students learn best when they are engaged and happy. Singing, dancing, art, and exploration are not just activities. They are tools for building creativity, problem-solving skills, and resilience.

The Reggio Emilia approach we follow encourages students to lead their learning. Teachers act as guides, helping them discover answers and explore ideas. This method nurtures independence, curiosity, and a love for learning. Inspired by the principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our classrooms are designed to be warm, inviting, and filled with open-ended materials.

Children are encouraged to ask questions, express themselves through art, and collaborate with their peers. Each project is guided by the interests of the children, which makes learning meaningful and deeply personal. Documentation of their work, such as photos and learning journals, helps them reflect on their progress and achievements. This process not only strengthens their academic skills but also supports their social-emotional development.

At SKY Preschool, we see every child as capable, resourceful, and full of potential, which is why the Reggio Emilia approach is at the heart of everything we do.

A Community Celebration

Events like this also strengthen our connection to the wider community. Performing at Lippo Mall Nusantara gave our students a stage, but it also showed the public what SKY Preschool stands for: joyful learning, confident students, and meaningful early childhood education. The performance was more than entertainment. It was a living example of how the Reggio Emilia approach fosters creativity, social-emotional development, and a love of learning.

It was also an opportunity for people outside our immediate school community to see our students in action. Many passersby stopped to watch, drawn in by the music and the energy of our performance. Some stayed for the entire show, impressed by the focus and enthusiasm of such young learners. Others asked questions about our preschool, eager to know more about our unique teaching methods and curriculum. This kind of exposure helps raise awareness of quality early education in the community. It also inspires other parents to seek out environments where children can grow academically and emotionally in equal measure.

Gratitude to Our Supporters

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to parents, teachers, and the management team of Lippo Mall Nusantara for their unwavering support in making this event a success. Every smile, every round of applause, and every helping hand contributed to creating a memorable moment for our young performers. At Sky Preschool, we believe that it takes a strong community to nurture a child’s growth, and this event is proof of what we can achieve together.
